Lobby and Advocacy

Advocacy and lobby are the core mandate of the NNFU. As per its mandate, the NNFU was established to serve as a mouthpiece of Namibian communal and emerging farmers by addressing issues affecting the farmers through lobby and advocacy. The NNFU runs lobby and advocate programmes to ensure improvement of conditions for its members. The success of the NNFU is measured on how many important and relevant agricultural industry issues addressed in particular year that improve food security, productivity and profitability of its members and farmers at large. Each year, NNFU identify at least 5 priority agricultural industry issues that effects its members and work towards addressing them.

In addition to the advocacy and lobbying on specific issues, the NNFU seats on several agricultural committees and boards which serves as an opportunity to lobby and advocate for the interest of members and farmers at large (please see the list of committees where NNFU is represented). Moreover, NNFU participates in agricultural industry policy and programme reviews which are important for agriculture industry. As a voice of farmers, NNFU prides itself in advocating and lobbying for farmers among stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
