The Namibia National Farmers’ Union (NNFU) is a national federation of regional farmer’s unions (RFUs). It was established in June 1992 to serve as a mouthpiece for all Namibian communal and emerging commercial farmers.

Kakunandunda Kaikajora Oshoveli Katuuo is a dedicated youth leader and agripreneur focused on transforming Namibia’s agricultural sector. As the chairperson of the NNFU Youth Desk Interim Committee and the Aminuis Farmer Association Youth Desk, Kakunandunda is committed to empowering young people in farming. She is the founder of Orevia Green Farms, which produces a variety of horticulture crops, including cabbage and beetroot, with an emphasis on sustainable practices. She has also developed an innovative Agri-PV Project that integrates agriculture and renewable energy.
Kakunandunda holds several certifications, including: Young Leaders Incubation Program (YLIP), GIZ Horticulture Training of Trainers, Climate Change Activist, NNFU Active Youth Farmer 2023. Her vision is to make agriculture more attractive to youth, offering career paths in agribusiness, innovation, and agritech.
Nico Ndana is an influential youth leader and passionate advocate for agricultural stability and food security in Namibia. Currently serving as the Secretary of the NNFU National Youth Desk Interim Committee, Nico also holds prominent positions as a Board member and Youth Representative for the Likwama Regional Farmers Union, Zambezi Youth Focal Farmer of NNFU, and a dedicated Youth leader at the village level.
A climate change activist, Nico’s educational background includes a Higher Diploma in Animal Health, and he is a co-founder and Farm Manager at Mupolilo Green Farm producing agronomic crops and small stock. His leadership development includes certification as a Young Farmer Leader (YLIP) and a Project Management Certificate (pending). His vision is to foster agricultural knowledge across Namibia, empowering farming communities at the grassroots level to contribute to national food security.
Izaan Kaimbi is a dedicated farmer and agribusiness entrepreneur from the Hardap Region, Daweb Constituency, specializing in sustainable crop production and community development. With a Certificate in Aquaculture Management from Stellenbosch University, certification as a Local G.A.P Trainer, and ongoing studies in Environmental Management at IUM, Izaan combines expertise with innovation to manage a 2000m² horticulture shade net for cash crops, open-field cultivation of animal feed, and a diverse citrus orchard. Passionate about sustainability, Izaan also leads composting initiatives and provides horticulture and nutrition training to empower local farm workers, fostering resilience and growth in the Namibian agricultural sector.
An accomplished agribusiness professional and youth leader with extensive experience in transformational leadership, marketing, public speaking, and project management. Jonna holds a range of qualifications, including a Certificate in Transformational Leadership (NQF Level 5) from the African Leadership Institute, and certificates in Marketing, Office Administration, Project Management, Financial Management, and Governance, among others.
His agribusiness expertise spans seed growing through NAMSIP and small stock farming, with a strong focus on supporting sustainable agricultural practices. Jonna has participated in notable programs such as the Talent Empowerment Program by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Young Leaders Incubation Program, and the Youth in Conservation Program.
As Treasurer of the NNFU Youth Desks Interim Committee, Jonna plays a crucial role in financial management and governance, contributing to the growth and empowerment of youth in agriculture. His commitment to advancing youth in agribusiness and community-based natural resource management demonstrates his dedication to driving change in the agricultural sector.
Augustinus Poroto is an award-winning agripreneur and youth leader, recognized as the 2022 Youth Horticulture Producer of the Year by the Namibia Agronomic Board (NAB). He currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the NNFU Regional Youth Desks Interim Committee and is actively involved in advancing sustainable agriculture and youth empowerment.
His leadership roles include Board Secretary of Likorerere Farmers Cooperative Pty, Ltd, Vice Secretary of the Rundu Rural District Farmers Union (RRFU), and Board Member of the Kayengona Village Development Council (KVDC). As a Lead Farmer in Conservation Agriculture under the SASSCAL Project and a member of the Namibia Horticulture Producers Association (NAHOP), he champions innovative and sustainable farming practices.
With a B.A. (Hons) in Public Relations and Industrial Psychology, Advance Diploma in Management coupled with specialized training in conservation agriculture, sustainable farming, and agribusiness, Augustinus also manages the Rutwau Green Scheme Farm.
His vision is to transform African agriculture by driving youth engagement, promoting technological innovation, and fostering sustainable practices

Mrs. Mahongo Christine Mutumba Haironga

Mrs Haironga is also a full-time horticultural farmer and runs a successful horticulture production business in Kavango West Region. She brings a wealth of knowledge in leadership and she is passionate about women empowerment and farming.
The NNFU is focused on enhancing governance and institutional development. Its constitution has been reviewed twice, with the most recent update in 2023, and new leadership is elected every three years, receiving governance training. The Strategic Plan is reviewed every five years. The organization follows clear policies that guide the behavior of its members, leaders, and staff. Annual National Council meetings and Congress are held, and the NNFU consistently produces an annual report, including an unqualified audit report.
The NNFU also supports its members by reviewing the constitutions of RFUs and FAs, developing Standard Operating Procedures, and offering governance training and assistance with technical and financial reporting.
