NNFU members welcomes feedlot groundbreaking in Omusati

NNFU members from the Omusati Region attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a 100-cattle standing feedlot at Etunda, led by the National Planning Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Speaking on behalf of the NNFU President, Mr. Sylvanus Naunyango from the Omusati Regional Farmers Union applauded the long-awaited development, which will help addresses key challenges faced by communal farmers in the NCAs such as limited market access, poor animal quality, and low abattoir throughput. He called for the feedlot to serve both as a market linkage and a training facility and urged for fast-tracked construction. Mr Naunyango emphasized the urgency in the implementation of the NCA Equalization Fund as catalyst for the livestock sub-sector in the NCA. NNFU thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Planning Commission, and the EU for their support, and reaffirmed its commitment in contribution to food security.
